MY STORY
I am a cinematographer working between China and the United States. I have always been drawn to stories about emotional tension, memory, identity, and the subtle distances that exist between people. Through cinematography, lighting, and the texture of physical spaces, I try to capture the small emotions that characters are unable to express directly. To me, cinema is ultimately an art of observation and listening — a process of breathing together with the director, the space, and the emotional rhythm of the characters.
Born in Beijing, I began my visual practice studying still photography at the School of Visual Arts. I later transferred to Emerson College to continue my studies in film production. After graduation, I completed an MPhil in Film and Screen Studies at University of Cambridge, and I am currently pursuing graduate studies in cinematography at the American Film Institute.
My work has been selected and screened at festivals including the Tokyo International Short Film Festival, the New York International Short Film Festival, and the European Film Festival. Moving forward, I hope to continue creating films that feel emotionally truthful and that linger in the audience’s memory long after the screening ends.
